A trio of GDG staffers was recently invited to attend Toronto Metropolitan University’s (TMU) 2nd Annual Packaging Symposium. Bringing expertise and insight to the event, Davis Design Director, Brett Hinchliffe and Bridgemark Designer, Katie Chamberlain walked the audience of more than 60 through a comprehensive 15-minute presentation discussing and predicting upcoming packaging trends.

Well-received by attendees, the presentation garnered a rich discussion of the impact AI is having in the creative world.

Additionally, our Head of HR, Celeste Mendonca participated in a post-presentation panel to address students’ concerns around work readiness, networking, and skills development.

Says Mendonca, “as an HR professional, it’s so motivating to speak directly to the people I aspire to be working alongside someday. The next generation of talent brings an irresistible combination of fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and curiosity to the table. We’re extremely fortunate to be invited. It’s an exciting opportunity to share our knowledge and point of view while also learning from the attendees and co-presenters. It’s collaborative, conversational, creative, and we wouldn’t miss the chance to be involved. We were also thrilled to see some Davis clients from Canadian Tire here, sharing how they’re sustainability initiatives are driving their approach to brand work.”

Held on February 20th, the day-long event was organized by METpack, a TMU student-run alliance dedicated to exploring the innovative world of packaging. According to their website, they “provide opportunities for learning, networking, and collaboration, connecting students with industry professionals and peers who share an interest in sustainable packaging, cutting-edge design, and advancements in materials and technology.”
